This course presents an introduction to research to support the work of those wishing to undertake research in library and information services. It covers the elements of research design, ethical considerations, data management issues and research reporting.

It also considers questions relating to the "why of research" and the need for evidence based practice in library and information settings. This course also asks practitioners to consider the costs and benefits of undertaking research and the ways that existing data may be used more effectively.

While this course discusses issues related to sample size and validity it is not a course that discusses statistical concepts in detail.
